Solution for achievement

Ever notice how so many of us just seem to stand still? We do all the things that we hear we should to make progress but with little or no success, while a few ‘lucky‘ people seem to have everything going for them. Are you among the first group or are you one of the ‘lucky‘ few? Is it ‘luck’ or can we determine the difference between the two groups?Well, I don’t believe that ‘luck’ figures in the equation. What I believe is:

and this is my formula for success. What my formula tells us is we must have a plan to achieve the life we want. We all know the hackneyed but true saying ‘If you fail to plan you plan to fail” well it’s true.

Solution for achievement

So the steps to success (according to my formula) are

Step 1. Determine what you want in your future and plan to have it. Write down your goal; be specific; date it and sign it. This then becomes a commitment you have made to yourself.

Step 2. Envision your future. Really see it, feel it and believe it. We know without a doubt, that if you can conceive it and believe it you will achieve it. In his book “You’ll See It When You Believe It” Wayne Dyer wrote ‘Work each day on your thoughts rather than concentrating on your behaviour. It’s your thinking that creates the feelings that you have and ultimately your actions as well.”

Make yourself a vision board showing what your future is going to be. Put it up where you can see it every day. Or make a series of boards each one focusing on a particular area of your life and put them around your house – one the fridge door, the bathroom mirror, the back of your front or garage door. Put them around your office – at your desk, on your computer or on the wall.

Step 3. Affirmations. Researchers have determined that we each have upwards of 60,000 thoughts a day. I don’t know who did the research or how they came up with that figure but it is a commonly used and accepted figure. Most of the thoughts we have are affirmations and unfortunately, many are negative. “I could never afford that house” “I won’t get the new job” “They won’t buy the product”. These are affirmations that put up roadblocks and stop us getting what we want. We need to work on allowing only positive affirmations and affirmations should always be in the present tense. “I love living in my new house” “I have the new job” “The buyer loves my product and has bought”. If we make our affirmations in the future “I will get the job” our subconscious mind clicks on to the future tense whereas we want to convince it that it is already here. For affirmations to work we have to have the feeling of already having the new house, the job, making the sales etc.

Write your affirmations on cards and put them up where you can see them. Make a separate set for your car (old business cards are perfect for this) and carry them in your car. I don’t suggest you read them while driving but pull them out when you are stopped in traffic. If you can read them out loud and really feel the affirmations they will manifest into being. You will accelerate the process of feeling by going to an open home for the sort of house you want; imagine living in it; where would you place your furniture? Would you change the d├ęcor etc? Then go to the local shops and imagine these are your local shops. If a new car is your desire, go to the dealership and take a test drive and imagine and feel yourself owning the car.

Step 4. Believe in Yourself. Belief in oneself is an attitude that can be developed. The Power of Belief is by far the most powerful and creative force in the Universe. Belief in oneself is the most motivating power of all. If you don’t believe in you how can you expect anyone else to believe in you? Work on your self belief. Know that you can have everything you want.

Make a list of all the accomplishments you have made in your life. You will be surprised how many there are. They may be small like making the first eleven at school or they may be large like getting that degree. But whatever they are, make the list and tell yourself you did achieve them. To achieve them you had to have a belief that you could. Work on this with positive affirmations, your vision boards for the future and surrounding yourself with items that reinforce the achievement. Do frame and hang that diploma, letter of acknowledgment or whatever. Bring out the medal you won for best essay at school in the 5th form. What about the medal for winning the 50 metres backstroke at the swim meet? All of these things will reinforce your belief that you can achieve whatever you set out to achieve.

And this all equals success.
